EK II 1870, type B

EK II 1870, type B

The cross has a three piece construction, a silver frame and a cast iron core, magnetic and unmarked. This type B or Godet one  is accepted as the  “replacement” or private purchase one. The iron cross II was approximately 47812 rewarded in 1870/71. The core has a crack, this is not uncommon by 1870 crosses, because of the high phosphate content of the casting material at that time.
