EK II 1813

EK II 1813

The cross has a three piece construction, a silver frame and a cast iron core, magnetic. The core is from a in 1813 awarded Iron Cross. The frame is renewed around 1830.At that time an Iron cross second class was one of the highest medals for bravery. People were very proud of their iron crosses. Because of the many wearing, the silver frames were often worn and broken after a long time of wearing. The cores where made from cast iron, so only the frames need to be replaced. Mostly done by a jeweler.
